I am going to blame the Renaissance and their lack of medical knowledge for the idea that during sex men and women should orgasm at the same time. This is ridiculous because this never happens and people think it should.

Basically the doctors at the time believed that the woman's orgasm was as valuable as the man's in terms of creating a baby. (aka she would release the egg only when she orgasmed) and it was best if both sets of eggs were released at the same time. However if this didn't happen and the man orgasmed first, then the woman was suppose to masturbate so that she too would release eggs.

Oh the Renaissance.
